Where can I drop off passengers during construction?
If you are dropping off or picking up a passenger during the construction, follow the signs to the visitor parking lot. Your passenger can safely enter or exit your vehicle without the risk of being hit by another passenger vehicle, bus or construction vehicle. It is dangerous to drop off your passenger near the bus stops or the cross walks. Please keep in mind that the driveway that loops under the pedestrian bridge is for emergency, construction and authorized delivery vehicles only. Many private vehicles are using this area to pick up and drop of passengers, which is causing traffic congestion problems and putting pedestrians at risk. Heavy construction vehicles are using our campus driveways extensively. It is important to obey all instructions given by flagpersons and security personnel, whether you are driving or walking in the vicinity. Pay attention to the signage that has been installed for the benefit of construction drivers and all campus users. Always drive - and walk - with care on campus.

Why is the pedestrian bridge leading to the Main Entrance of the Progress Campus closed?
The pedestrian bridge that leads to the Main Entrance (C Block) of the Progress Campus was closed on September 21. This bridge will be renovated to form the link between the Main Campus and the new Library and Academic Facility. Once the new building is complete, it will function as the new Main Entrance for the Progress Campus.

How do I enter the main building during construction of the new Library and Academic Facility?
During construction, you can access the main building via the first level through doorways to the left and right of the pedestrian bridge. A new paved pedestrian walkway leads from Parking Lot 5 to the "C1" entrance doors, where you can access Stairway 1 and the elevator. A second new pedestrian walkway leads from Parking Lots 1, 2 and 3 to the "B" Block entrance, where you can access Stairway 9. See Parking and Public Transit for a map that shows the hoarding and the new pedestrian walkways.

How do I get to the Student Hub during construction at Progress?
The Student Hub is located on the second level just inside the current Main Entrance ("C" Block), and can be accessed via Stairway 9, Stairway 1 or the elevator next to Stairway 1.

Will Tim Horton's remain open during the construction?
Yes, Tim Horton's will not be affected by the construction. Tim Horton's is on the first level near Stairway 1 and the elevator, across from the Security Desk and next to the cafeteria.

Where do I park during the construction at Progress?
The Library construction will affect parking in staff lot 4 and student lot 5. Handicap and Medical parking will be relocated to lot 5. Staff with handicap permits will need to see Progress Security to have their access card updated for access to the new handicap and medical parking spaces.

Construction of the new Athletic and Wellness Centre is currently affecting parking lot 6. New curbs have been set up to divide this lot. Parking on the south side of these curbs is limited to construction deliveries only. The north area of the lot is restricted to permit parking only and can accommodate 182 vehicles.

All visitor and pay and display parking will be located in lot 3. We have reopened parking lot 2 to accommodate overflow parking. Parking is also available in the lot at Centennial's Residence and Conference Centre across Progress Avenue.

How will construction affect public transit service at the College?
Once the construction is complete, the bus lane will be reconfigured to loop in front of the new library building. During construction, the designated bus stops will be relocated and the buses will be rerouted. Please visit Parking and Public Transit During Construction.

Who is financing the construction of the new Centennial College Library and Academic Facility at Progress?
This project is being financed jointly by the Canadian and Ontario governments through the federal Knowledge Infrastructure Program and the 2009 Ontario budget. Centennial received $7.3 million from the federal government and $27.7 million from the Provincial government. Centennial will contribute $5.8 million. The Knowledge Infrastructure Program is a two-year, $2-billion economic stimulus measure to support infrastructure enhancement at post-secondary institutions across Canada. Ontario's 2009 provincial budget set aside $780 million for infrastructure investments at colleges and universities.  For more information, visit Funding.

Daycare

What route do I take to drop off my children at the daycare?
You will enter as you normally do behind the Scarborough Centre for Alternative Studies (SCAS) and follow through to the daycare. However, when you leave the daycare, first exit the same way you entered and then turn right beside the SCAS and follow the drop-off loop to exit the campus.

How will construction impact the daycare's outdoor play area? Will there be dirt, debris or other hazards?
We do not expect the construction of the library to have an impact on the day care play ground. However, due to the proximity of the AWC construction activity, there will be some interruption in usage. The AWC Project Manager and Day Care Manager will coordinate any major interruptions in usage.
