| Established as Toronto's first public college in 1966, Centennial College offers programs in business, communications, community and health studies, science and engineering technology, general arts, hospitality and transportation. | |
Classroom learning experiences, coursework, assignments and our unique General Education course focused on social justice, equity, and inclusion provide students with the opportunity to engage in important social issues. Our students are encouraged to participate in dialogue that includes issues of environmental sustainability, poverty, social cohesion and so much more. In addition, global citizenship and equity experiences are developed in collaboration with each school, actively empowering students to recognize and act on a sense of social responsibility regarding domestic and global social justice issues through on- and off-campus initiatives. |
Welcome to the World
In 2009, Centennial College launched Global Citizenship and Equity Learning Experience (GCELE), to encourage student participation in global experiences by providing opportunities that develop leadership skills and work to create positive social change in our intricately inter-connected world. The 2009 GCELE selected eight students to work with the DREAM Project, a community-based organization committed to quality education and mentoring projects for children born into poverty in rural and small communities of the Dominican Republic. For the 2010-11 GCELE trips, Centennial College is introducing new opportunities for students, including a project in the Amazon forest of Loreto, Peru. In order to create some continuity, Centennial will also be accepting applications from students to return to the Dominican Republic. See the world while making a difference in it - not a bad deal. |
SLE: The Future of Learning
The world has changed dramatically in recent years, and will continue to change just as rapidly. Those prepared for it, with a global view based on a strong ethical, culturally expansive foundation of learning, will flourish. Students who have taken - and lived - The Signature Learning Experience will be prepared. Will you be one of them? |
