Course Description

BAM-108 - Biological Techniques
Acquire basic knowledge of techniques used in microbiology laboratories.  Understand and follow Containment Level 2 Health and Safety requirements.  Describe and use WHMIS and MSDS guidelines.  Acquire expertise in methods such as streak plate, decimal dilution, enumeration by pour and spread plate, differential and structural staining, microscopy and micrometry, and identification by biochemical tests.

Acquire knowledge of microbiological methods from first year of Biotechnology and Environmental programs.  Perform laboratory procedures while practicing safe, aseptic laboratory techniques.
