2010-2011 Centennial College Bursary Opportunities

Centennial College recognizes the financial challenges faced by many of our students in pursuing their post-secondary education. We have implemented a number of bursaries (non-repayable) funding, to support your resources to assist you meet your financial obligations. Listed below are some of our bursary offerings, the amount available for each bursary and the approximate time frames they are available.

Centennial College recognizes the financial challenges faced by many of our students in pursuing their post-secondary education. We have implemented a number of bursaries (non-repayable) funding, to support your resources to assist you meet your financial obligations. Listed below are some of our bursary offerings, the amount available for each bursary and the approximate time frames they are available.

  • Bursaries are posted on myCentennial on the dates as noted. When a bursary opportunity has been exhausted, the bursary application is removed from myCentennial immediately to avoid student disappointment that the opportunity still exists. These opportunites are limited to the number of bursaries that are indicated below.
  • The Centennial College Student Access Guarantee Bursary, is an automatic assessment for all students who are identified by OSAP as having an unmet need. We provide this bursary on three occasions, mid Fall, mid Winter and mid Summer for eligible students. No application is required and the amounts vary depending upon the Ministry OSAP calculations. 
  • The Special Hardship Bursary is an opportunity that is provided to help you meet the costs associated with any emergencies you may encounter, ie a fire, relocation due to grievous circumstances. This application is not posted on myCentennial, you must seek an in person interview with a Student Financial Services Officer at the campus you attend during the academic year.
  • Centennial College has developed a Centennial College Workstudy Program that can provide a job on campus and whose earnings can assist you meet your financial obligations. The wages are $10.25 per hour and the positions available vary. See a Student Financial Services Officer for more details once you have registered fulltime to review any potential work opportunities.
  • Students are encouraged to apply for OSAP. Our bursaries, although with the exception of the SAG Bursary noted above, do not require that a student applies for OSAP however the Ministry has made many enhancements in the past two years to the OSAP program and our bursaries are designed to supplement and complement your OSAP.

Centennial Connect Tuition BursaryCentennial General Entrance Bursary

- 50 bursaries, provided to support tuition costs for students attending our Connect Orientation Session- 100 bursaries to support entrance to post-secondary programs
Centre for Creative Communication Equipment and Supplies BursaryCentennial College Access Guarantee Programs and Book Bursary
July - August 2010; January - February 2011$500 EachAugust - September 2010; December 2010 - January 2011; April - May 2011
- 40 bursaries provided for the Fall term / 20 bursaries provided for the winter term; to recognize the additional costs associated for equipment and supplies for the students enrolled in Communication programs. - 25 bursaries provided to address the outstanding costs our Francophone students face in attempting to be successful in their post-secondary study.- 40 bursaries, provided to encourage first year students from specific high-risk neighbourhoods to pursue post-secondary education fulltime
HYPE: Community Youth Initiative Returners BursaryOntario First Generation Bursaries
July - August 2010 $1,000 EachSeptember - October 2010$500 Each
- 50 bursaries, provided to encourage returning HYPE students to continue their post-secondary study- 90 post-secondary students and 5 apprentice returning students whose parents did not participate in post-secondary study
Women In Trades Bursary
