Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a post-secondary, post-diploma and applied degree program?
Post-secondary programs are designed for most high school graduates or students with mature student status and range from one to three years. Post-diploma programs are designed for college and university graduates and tend to be shorter (one year or less) and high-focused. Applied degrees are new to the Ontario college system and offer the best of both university and college education.

Who are your industry partners? Are you linked to any organizations?
Through ongoing partnerships with community, business organizations and alumni, we can ensure that our programs are relevant to employers, students and the community we serve.

Our membership and partnership in many professional organizations allow students to apply their academic credit toward further study and/or professional designation. Professional associations and designations provide tremendous growth potential and networking opportunities for School of Business graduates. Certain association memberships, designations and certifications are specific to the program and courses. Please contact the program coordinator for more details.

Is it possible to finish my program part-time if I get a good job offer before I graduate?
In many cases you will find equivalent courses offered through our Continuing Education programs (evening, weekends and distance learning). You may also be able to transfer into a shorter program to earn your Centennial College diploma or certificate.

Is it possible to take courses in the evening?
Yes. Students with scheduling conflicts or employment obligations often take equivalent courses in the evenings or on weekends.

Is it possible to take courses online through distance learning?
Yes. More and more courses, and even entire programs, are being added to our distance learning offerings.

How much will my education cost? What sort of financial aid is available to students?
The current two-semester (one year) tuition for most School of Business programs is approximately $2,820 ($11,198 for international students). Refer to the admissions page for more details and visit financial aid for full-time students.

What is co-op?

Co-op gives you "real-world," related work experience while you are a Centennial student, helps you decide what kind of job you will want as a grad, helps you pay for your college education and increases your chances of getting a good job (with a higher salary) as a grad!

How does co-op work?
After completing your first three semesters of classes, you may be eligible for your first co-op work semester. Each co-op work semester is 15 weeks long and you are required to complete three co-op semesters while completing your program. Often co-op work semesters alternate with academic semesters but students have been able to complete two co-op work semesters back-to-back.

Who is eligible for co-op?
Domestic and international students eligible for co-op must meet all three of the following conditions:

  • Successfully complete 80% of your first-year courses (8 out of 10 courses)
  • Your overall grade point average is 2.5 or higher (C+ or higher)
  •  Your mark in your English course (EN170) is at least a C

What if I'm not eligible for co-op?
Students who do not meet the above requirements will be transferred into the non co-op option of their program without any loss of credit.

How do I get the co-op job?
In your third semester (second year), you must take a mandatory "Employment Pre-placement" course that will help you prepare a resume and practise interview techniques. It will also answer all your questions about the upcoming co-op work semester.
