How to Apply - Outgoing Student Exchange Documents You Must Have Before Leaving Home
Funding Tuition fees are paid directly to Centennial College by Outgoing Exchange students and no tuition fees are paid to the host institution (although sometimes a small administrative fee is charged). Students will need to purchase textbooks and supplies for their courses (paper, pens, textbooks, online accounts, etc.) Students currently receiving OSAP funding should be approved to continue receiving OSAP during the exchange semester. Students participating in the NAFTAPreneur Mobility Program (available from 2010 to 2014) may be eligible for a government scholarship of up $3300. Students participating in other exchanges may be eligible for a government scholarship of up to $2500. Other scholarships may be found at http://scholarships.gc.ca or http://www.scholarshipscanada.com/ Working Abroad Living and Studying Abroad Check out TravelCuts or CheapTickets to buy airline tickets, they are relatively inexpensive. They also sell medical insurance, Bon Voyage, and it is low cost in comparison to other companies. Although, with any travel insurance coverage be sure to read the fine-print. Details of your insurance coverage should state that not only emergencies are covered, but also general doctor/clinic visits are covered. You want to be save and feel secure about your health coverage while away and Centennial College needs to know you are covered for any medical issues while away. Students travelling out of Ontario through an exchange agreement must purchase StudentGuard medical insurance through our International Department at Progress Campus. The cost of this insuance is about $2 per day, or $240 per semester. For students staying in Europe it might be a good idea to purchase a EuroRail Pass before you go. You can purchase a 3 month unlimited pass which most students find invaluable. If you purchase it while still in Canada it arrives within a few days with free delivery. Purchase the EuroRail Global pass for it is well work the initial $1400 approx. cost. Another good asset is an International Student Identity Card which provides discounts all across Europe. It is the only form of student ID accepted at places such as Vatican City in Rome and Schoenbrunn Palace in Austria. You can locate many websites with tips on how to be a safe and smart traveller. Make sure you have collected all necessary documents, checked your financial situation, arranged accommodations for when you arrive, made course arrangements with your Centennial College Study Exchange Coordinator and told your family/friends where/how you may be contacted before you go.
