Message from Ann Buller
President, Centennial College

Ann Buller  Centennial College is proud to have embarked on a unique strategic initiative that focuses on the burgeoning field of cultural and heritage tourism. Our effort takes the shape of an institute dedicated to advancing knowledge of multiculturalism and heritage as they relate to tourism. This institute provides a one-of-a-kind, vital platform for highlighting the rich and vibrant multicultural student population we boast of, for forging community partnerships across the Greater Toronto Area, and for exploring collaborative ventures with similar entities across the continent and globe.

We believe an investment in the Culture and Heritage Institute will be beneficial to our students, the local community and to the industry. Where better to host a program highlighting cultural and heritage tourism studies as part of the School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culture than at Centennial College, whose students and staff represent 100 ethnocultural groups and speak more than 80 distinct languages?

The Institute is poised to foster partnerships with public and private organizations in the cultural and heritage sector, and thus, it provides unique learning opportunities and skill sets fundamental to the career paths for our students and working professionals, such as your own staff. I invite you to get involved in our pioneering venture at the ground level. This is one project we expect to take flight, thanks to the momentum we have gained from our partners!

Centennial College is the home and heart of a unique international education experience that epitomises respect for diversity and equity. Our Culture and Heritage Institute prepares our students to work anywhere in the world and offers the world a vibrant education embedded in our richly diverse Centennial Canadian culture. Our institute opens a global vista of opportunities for our learners, who will be engaged as partners in their own learning.

In addition to preparing students for job opportunities in chosen fields, Centennial will further equip you with diversity competencies, taught in our Signature Learning Experience (SLE) course and taught by no other college in Ontario. This SLE course will teach you how to handle all aspects of diversity and equity issues that you will encounter in your workplace, and you will have a portfolio to show your prospective employer. Centennial is an exciting destination and our Culture and Heritage Institute equips you to venture out to exciting destinations worldwide!
