About Centennial
Established as Toronto's first public college in 1966, Centennial College offers programs in business, communications, community and health studies, science and engineering technology, general arts, hospitality and transportation.

Charlene de Haan joined the OSEB program in September 2007 and in November she opened the doors of stepUP transitions consulting. From that moment, the company has not looked back.
stepUP transitions offers a host of business-to-business management consulting services tailored for micro-to-medium-sized companies. Its mission is:
"to walk alongside emerging businesses on the tipping point of transition to develop customized workplace solutions that improve business outcomes and increase efficiencies."

To grow the company mission into reality, stepUP transitions offers three general services:

  1. Project Management: strategic planning, conference and meeting plans, marketing design and implementation.'
  2. Communication: interviewing, writing, editing, presentations, press releases and policy manuals.'
  3. Training: developing and delivering workshops on topics such as communication styles, human resources, time management, customer service and valuing volunteers.

Charlene brings to her business a wide ranging background. She holds a degree in education from the University of British Columbia and has several years of progressive experience in adult education, human resources and executive management.

Since she started stepUP transitions, Charlene has secured a number of solid contracts. In one case (still on-going) she developed dedicated web pages and web links on the web-site of a medium-sized Canadian evangelical organization. A second (also on-going) involved designing and implementing the marketing plan for an emerging small business. A third project was to develop a formal staff performance appraisal process with the potential for two future phases: training for management evaluators and revision of company job descriptions. In June, Charlene secured a contract to write a bi-monthly column for Faith Today magazine. Coupled with these successes is the fact that one potential client who decided not to proceed with Charlene's proposal, sent her an honorarium for the time and work she invested in their proposal...testament to the way Charlene goes about her work - always with the utmost dedication, commitment and professionalism.

Charlene acknowledges her business foundation was laid through the OSEB training. Congratulations Charlene on a job well done!
