Winner of the Centre of Entrepreneurship Most Improved Award winner Toronto Small Business Forum 2008 Purple Circle Inc. (PCI) is a full Service Advertising, Web & Graphic Design Company. The business started initially as a sole proprietor and was incorporated last year. Poonam initially worked on numerous small and new start-up businesses and soon decided that she wanted to focus on the high-end clientele where her scope of creativity would be well utilized. Her target area was very competitive where she would be going against companies who had long portfolios and testimonials to show. Using her creative and entrepreneurial spirit, Poonam was undeterred and decided to package herself to medium and large size clientele by using channels like RFP's and strong personal referrals. Her first big project was with York University which acted as an ice breaker as over 45 accomplished ad agencies and design firms from all over Canada had applied for same projects. She had put in proposals for 3 different projects thereby increasing her odds for selection. She was among only two who finally got selected. She attributes her strong networking and multi-tasking abilities for her success, including specifically the assistance from the SEB program on an on-going basis. Poonam says, "when I joined the program, I had no clue how to start-up my business nor had any idea on how to negotiate & finalize a business contract or an RFP.
