Sham Thakor joined the OSEB program in December 2007. His goal was to establish a financial company that could provide a full range of accounting and personal tax services. But, Sham did not see this as just another financial services company. He saw this as a company unique in that it would offer its services in four different languages: English, Hindi, Urdu and Guajarati.

Sham determined that there was a real need for this through his research. It showed that 26% of the new immigrants settling in Toronto are from South East Asia, his target group.

Sham brings to his business a wealth of education and experience in the financial world. And, to ensure that he is always up-to-date with the ever-changing laws that affect the Canadian tax system, he has regularly upgraded his knowledge by taking additional tax preparation courses.

Recently, Sham developed a strategic alliance with a law firm here in Toronto. That firm has decided to expand its immigration business in India with particular emphasis on helping businesses there locate in Canada. In fact, Sham spent some time in India with his legal colleagues conducting seminars on establishing and doing business in Canada. Already, they have one potential client and Sham expects to get a large amount of the financial business that will come from that opportunity.
