CTV GIFT of STUDIOS LIGHTS
With a special gift from the CTV Operations team, students in the Broadcasting and Film program will be working with an updated industry standard lighting system futher enhancing their studio experience and quality of work. The donation, spearheaded by CTV’s Craig Semenuk, (who is also a part-time faculty member) was initiated in order to “create a learning environment that is as realistic to the workplace as possible,” he says. The new studio lights will complement the high definition cameras at The Centre for Creative Communications, Centennial’s campus for communications, media and design programs in mid-town Toronto, and will impact a number of productions that take place in the studio including the production of The Journal, a regular news magazine styled TV show that airs online. “Their productions will be more dynamic; the fixtures will facilitate the process of creating depth, modeling and will improve the overall quality of lighting and it will get more students excited and involved in the lighting process,” Semenuk says. Centennial’s Broadcasting and Film program, established over 35 years ago, prepares students with both the creative and technical skills for film, television and radio. Creating new and original story ideas, students learn how to manage the creative production and development process and have been placed at CBC, CTV, Citytv, E-Talk, Global TV, Epitome Pictures, Marble Media, CP24, CHUM, and more. “It’s imperative to identify with the students and provide them the tools they need to be successful,” Semenuk says. "Investing in the future is a noble cause.” For more information or to make a donation, please contact Paul Koidis at pkoidis@centennialcollege.ca.
