Solar PV Level I – Installation Workshop

Centennial Energy Institute is offering this Solar PV Installation workshop (Level I) that will cover fundamental principles and a good understanding of solar PV systems and its installation. It will include solar radiation data analysis, site evaluation tools and techniques, solar electric component selection, connection, and operation, system sizing, component selection, installation, commissioning, trouble shooting, and standard safety requirements and practices.

As a premier solar energy institute, CEI is able to tap into the resources of labs and energy faculty of Centennial College. Participants will be exposed to 700w to 4 x 300w demonstration systems and a 1.5kw solar tracker as well as hands-on work on 8 x 5w up to 700w systems where the experience is delivered on roof simulators.

Learning outcomes
Through 35 hours of lectures and labs, this first workshop, in a series of three Solar PV workshops, will allow learners to understand various solar photovoltaic systems, perform site assessments, explain voltage, current and power output, demonstrate how to measure PC output, demonstrate how to use charge controllers and inverters and describe the safety, performance and sizing of battery types.
