Centennial Workplace Wellness and Health Promotion graduates promote the total well-being of individuals and groups within a corporate and community context.  Skilled in program design and management, psycho-social and physical health issues, stress management, nutrition and health promotion theory, they bring an holistic and multi-disciplinary approach to workplace wellness and community health promotion.

This is Canada’s first accredited post-graduate wellness program with a respected national and international reputation, recognized by leading employers.  Benefit from acquiring essential programming, management and communication skills needed to become an effective manager of wellness programs.  Learn to assess health risk factors, develop stress management plans, develop strategies to promote personal well-being, provide lifestyle coaching, design, implement and evaluate effective wellness strategies and programs and manage programs in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.  Graduates are able to utilize a variety of presentation techniques and strategies, develop a business case for wellness and market and promote wellness programs.

 

Career Outlook

This program prepares you for a satisfying career and opens employment doors in corporate employee wellness, community health promotion, not-for-profit organizations or as a wellness entrepeneur in such positions as wellness coordinator, health promotion consultant or program manager.  We provide employment search support services and we have an 85% job placement rate.  Example of companies hiring our graduates include Canadian Tire, Telus Mobility, Buffett-Taylor and Bank of Montreal.  Other organizations include hospitals, independent health organizations and public health units of local and provincial governments and a range of major charitable organizations.  Students benefit from ongoing networking and job search assistance.

Your Commitment

This is a two semester (one year) post-graduate full time program.  During the second semester there is a field placement two days each week which provides the opportunity to demonstrate knowledge/ability in wellness coaching, program design, leadership, management and communications.  Course assignments focus on the practical application of individual, workplace and community employability skills.  As part of the practical experience, you will design promotional material for mini-fairs and health awareness events.  Costs for this program are approximately $1700 each semester.
