Athletic and Wellness Levy A $75 levy collected each semester, $10 of which is allocated to athletic and recreation, and wellness initiatives at each campus, $65 is allocated to the construction and operations of the new Athletics and Wellness Centre @ Progress Campus. Bursary/Fundraising Fee This fee is used to fund bursaries for students in financial need. Canadian Workplace Orientation Fee International students are eligible for co-op programs. International students enrolled in most co-op programs requiring work terms pay a co-op administrative fee each in-class semester. The fee assists students to be more successful in their program prior to their first co-op semester so that more students can take advantage of this work-and-learn opportunity by meeting the eligibility requirements for the co-op semesters and continue to offer additional services through to graduation. Classroom and Apprenticeship Fees The mandatory classroom and apprenticeship fees apply to apprenticeship students and are used to support the cost of instruction, instructional supplies, learning materials, tools and training aids. These fees are refundable, less $100 administration charge and $55 apprenticeship fee, up to and including the third day of the program. No refunds will be issued after the third day of class. Co-op Education Students enrolled in most co-op programs requiring work terms pay a co-op administrative fee each in-class semester. The fee helps cover the various costs of services related to co-op education, such as career planning, student preparation, promotion, placement assistance, work-term monitoring and on-going liaison with employers. Copyright The Copyright/Video licensing fee (mandatory) allows the Centennial community to copy materials used for educational purposes to the level specified in the Access Copyright guidelines and to use videos in accordance with video licensing guidelines. Health Insurance Fee This mandatory fee pays the premium for a health insurance plan which provides 80 per cent ‘pay direct’ prescription drug coverage (exceptions apply), accidental dental expense reimbursement, and other limited benefits. This particular plan covers all Canadian residents who are full- and part-time registrants in postsecondary, post-graduate, bachelor’s degree and degree programs. International students pay a fee for a different health insurance plan. Information Technology This mandatory fee covers a number of information technology support services for students. Placement Assessment To assist with the implementation of new assessment practices at Centennial College. Program Incidentals Some programs may charge an incidental fee for special services, such as meals, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training, mask fit testing or course materials. Student Activity All students are charged a yearly activity fee which contributes to the operation of the Student Association, student and alumni activities, a bursary fund. Student Centre Building Fund/Facilities Fee To support the facility operations of the Progress Campus and Ashtonbee Student Centres. These operations would include overhead costs, furniture and equipment renewal include overhead costs, furniture and equipment renewal and building improvements. Student Green Fee To encourage and implement environmentally sustainable practices on campus. This would include considering the establishment of goals and timelines for implementing environmental policy including Green Energy funds for the purchasing of green energy, on-site energy generation, and energy efficiency and conservation measures. Student Services All full-time students are charged a nonrefundable student services fee each semester. Part-time students are charged per student contact hour. This fee covers the photo ID card (one issue), sessional validation decals, assessment, convocation Transforming the Future This fee encourages students to positively effect their physical environment at any campus. |
