Questions & Answers

How do I apply to Centennial College and is there a fee?
You can apply on-line using the following link (this is the fastest way and it is free of charge)
http://db2.centennialcollege.ca/forms/internationalform.html

When should I begin the application process?
You should apply at least 5 months before the particular intake (semester) you are interested in attending. You will need approximately 3-4 months to apply for a study permit in certain countries. If you are uncertain about application timing, contact the International Centre manager for your region. Email contact information for our managers can be found below.

I am an International student studying in a Canadian high school. What application process should I follow?
Even though you may be graduating from a "Canadian" high school, you are still considered an "International" student. Please ensure that you follow the international student application process by applying online http://db2.centennialcollege.ca/forms/internationalform.html. Send all transcripts to Kevin Wang hwang@centennialcollege.ca.

If you have already applied to Centennial College through OCAS (the Ontario College Application Service) you must follow up with our International Office to ensure that we have received your transcripts.

What are the official documents needed for submission with my application?
The documents can range depending on the country you are applying from - you will be contacted by the admissions officer regarding additional requirements. Basic documents from all countries would be:

  • An IELTS/TOEFL test score (recommended not mandatory) - only if the country's official language is not English
  • High School Transcripts
  • If you are applying to a Graduate Certificate program or a Fast Track program, post secondary transcripts are also required (mark sheets for each year of attendance at the college or university attended as well as proof of completion).

What tests do I need to take for English proficiency?
TOEFL or IELTS or Centennial English assessment. Please note: TOEFL is not acceptable for those applying in India (IELTS only)

How do I send in my documents?
You can send your documents by fax, email scanned copies, or mailed hard copies. The originals will be verified once you arrive in Canada.

How long is the processing time after I have submitted my application and supporting documents?
Once we've received your application and all supporting documents, you can usually expect to receive an admissions decision and notification within 5 -7 business days. (Note: Business days are Monday - Friday)

I've sent in my application and all supporting documents. What is the next step?
Applications and transcripts will be submitted to the admissions assistant assigned to the country you are applying from. Your file will be assigned a student number and then forwarded to the Admissions Officer responsible for your region/country. An admissions decision is then made and you are sent notification of that decision.

What's the difference between an offer letter and a conditional offer letter?
An offer letter, without ‘conditions' is a straight offer to you to attend Centennial College. If you receive a ‘conditional' offer letter, you will need to complete the conditions before you will be able to obtain a timetable for that particular program.

How can I follow-up to get information on the status of my application?
You can contact the Admissions Officer representing your country within 5 - 7 business days after the application was submitted to the college.

The information I provided on my application is incorrect, how can I make changes?
Please include your full first and last name and date of birth and/or student number on all correspondence with our office. Contact Kevin Wang at 416-289-5000 ext. 2024 or hwang@centennialcollege.ca for application status updates.

Can I apply for financial assistance?
No. International students will have to apply for financial assistance from their home country. We do not offer entrance grants or loans for International students. However, financial awards are offered to eligible students who have successfully completed two consecutive semesters. http://www.centennialcollege.ca/MeritScholarships

How do I pay my fees?
Fees can be paid by credit card, bank draft or wire transfer (Note: It takes approximately 2-3 weeks before "International" wire transfers are posted to our accounts) See "How to Pay Your Fees" http://www.centennialcollege.ca/International

Where do I go to find out more information on programs offered by Centennial College?
http://www.centennialcollege.ca

Why are fees for international students so much higher than domestic student fees?
International fees reflect the full cost of education/per student in Canada. Domestic student fees are subsidized by grants from the federal and provincial governments. These operating grants are received by the educational institutions to provide education to Canadian citizens and landed immigrants and are generated from the tax base paid by Canadian citizens and landed immigrants.
