On Friday, October 17 more than 7,500 youth, international speakers and performers will celebrate the second annual National Me to We Day by coming together at Toronto’s Ricoh Coliseum to educate, inspire and empower social action and volunteerism. National Me to We Day has equipped thousands of youth nationwide with the tools to become socially engaged global citizens. The event will be broadcast on MTV, CTV and other media - and we want you to be part of it! This fabulous day is organized by Free the Children, the world's largest network of children helping children through education, with more than one million youth involved in innovative education and development programs in 45 countries. Founded in 1995 by international child rights activist Craig Kielburger, Free The Children has received the World's Children's Prize for the Rights of the Child (also known as the Children's Nobel Prize) and the Human Rights Award from the World Association of Non-Governmental Organizations. Free the Children has formed successful partnerships with leading school boards, Oprah's Angel Network and has been featured multiple times on the Oprah Winfrey Show. National Me to We Day requires 150 volunteers and would like to offer Centennial students an opportunity to help out. Students will need to attend a mandatory volunteer information evening on Thursday, Oct. 16 before attending National Me to We Day, which begins at 7 am the following morning. To volunteer, please contact Yasmin Razack at 416-289-5000, ext. 3355 or by e-mail at yrazack@centennialcollege.ca as soon as possible. This is a great opportunity for you to be a part of an exciting community initiative that works to inspire youth to be a positive change in our global world. Please RSVP now! |
