With their distinctive green ties and chants of “Go Green!” Centennial College’s team of School of Business students enjoyed a commanding presence at the Ontario Colleges Marketing Competition (OCMC), hosted by Humber College this year. It wasn’t just bravado: Team Centennial proved it had some mettle behind the bluster, scoring highly in many of the most important marketing skills contests. Centennial students placed in the following categories:
Centennial’s 26-member team amassed enough wins to be declared the overall winning college at the 2011 competition with 45 points, followed by Niagara College in second place and Humber College finishing third. In addition, student Bryan Abichandani collected the coveted William & Margaret Lydiatt Award for his exceptional spirit and team support leading up the competition. For more than 30 years, the Ontario Colleges’ Marketing Competition brings hundreds of highly motivated business students together to showcase their marketing acumen, strategic thinking and teamwork. This prestigious competition draws college teams from across Ontario to compete at the host school, along with dynamic faculty coaches and strong corporate support. The competition culminates with the OCMC Awards Banquet, where the hard-won awards are handed out and teams get to kick back with a dance party. Congratulations to Team Centennial for a fantastic outing this year, and to all the faculty and college staff who supported their training and preparation in advance of the OCMC. It’s a fitting start to Centennial’s hosting duties for next year’s competition, which will be held at Progress Campus and the Toronto Delta East Hotel in November 2012. Go Green! |
