About Centennial
Established as Toronto's first public college in 1966, Centennial College offers programs in business, communications, community and health studies, science and engineering technology, general arts, hospitality and transportation.

On Saturday, March 27 at 8:30 pm hundreds of millions of people around the world will turn off their lights for an hour to show their support for action on climate change. Centennial College will contribute to the effort by selectively turn off lights at every campus for one hour - although lamps needed for safety and security purposes will remain on.

Earth Hour is a global event organized by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and is held on the last Saturday of March, asking households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and other electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness of the need to take action on climate change. Earth hour originated in Australia in 2007, when 2.2 million residents of Sydney participated by turning off all non-essential lights. Following Sydney's lead, many other cities around the world - including many in Canada - adopted the event in 2008.

You can do lots of fun things in the dark! Plan a candlelight dinner for your family or for a group of friends (but please remember to be vigilant when using candles). Play board games, tell stories or go star gazing with your kids and your neighbours. It's only an hour, but the cumulative effect can raise a lot of awareness around the world. Join us!
