Centennial College is officially breaking ground for our visionary $46-million Library and Academic Facility at Progress Campus this Friday, October 23 at 10:30 am with the help of the Honourable Tony Clement, Minister of Industry for the Government of Canada.
The 103,500-square-foot building, designed by Diamond + Schmitt Architects, will include a full-service library as well as 22 additional classrooms, lab space, a large lecture theatre and a living bio-wall. Funding for this project is being provided by the Government of Canada's Knowledge Infrastructure Program and through the Ontario government's 2009 Budget.
In addition to Minister Clement, the MPP dignitaries in attendance include the Hon. Margarett Best, Hon. Brad Duguid, Hon. Gerry Phillips, Lorenzo Berardinetti, Wayne Arthurs and Bas Balkissoon. Local City of Toronto Councillor Raymond Cho will also be in attendance. The formal presentation will take about 30 minutes, rain or shine, followed by photography and a reception with refreshments.
Centennial students and employees are warmly invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony, taking place on the construction site immediately in front of the boilerhouse at Progress Campus. If there is rain, the speeches and reception will continue in the Main Events Hall of the Student Centre.
We hope to see you there!
