Centennial College continues to make good on its commitment to apply rigorous program evaluation tools and earn external accreditation for its programs. Centennial is the first college in Canada to earn UNWTO TedQual certification for six of its hospitality and tourism programs.

The designation by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) recognizes the work done by the School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culture’s to revamp its education and training programs to enhance quality, competitiveness and sustainability.

TedQual is the UNWTO’s quality assurance system that evaluates tourism related education and training programs throughout the world. Faculty at the School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culture dedicated many hours to the complete UNWTO’s audit. The audit measured the usefulness of the school’s systems, how well the school applies and uses the basics of the tourism industry, and whether or not students’ needs are being met.

The six programs to receive UNWTO TedQual certification are:

  • Hospitality and Tourism Administration
  • Hospitality Management – Hotel and Resort
  • Event Management – Festival and Conference
  • Tourism Management – Culture and Heritage Tourism
  • Hospitality Management – Food and Beverage (Catering)
  • Tourism and Travel
