Centennial students show off their marketing prowess

School of Business students Marc de Breyne (left) and Saadman Halder earned a second-place finish in the International Marketing event of the Ontario Colleges Marketing Competition in Hamilton, Nov. 19-20.

Centennial College Marketing students distinguished themselves by finishing second, fourth and fourth in three tough rounds that were part of the Ontario Colleges Marketing Competition, hosted this year by Hamilton's Mohawk College on Nov. 19 and 20.

The annual event, which tests the skills and knowledge of marketing students from 13 colleges across Ontario, consists of marketing exercises and case studies judged by a panel of industry experts. The Centennial team was sponsored by the School of Business, the Centennial College Student Association Inc. and the Alumni Association.

School of Business student Arlin Kapadia earned a fourth-place finish in the Quiz Bowl; Laura Martin won a fourth-place finish in the Sales Presentation event; and Saadman Halder and Marc de Breyne placed second in the International Marketing event.

Other members of the Centennial Marketing team included students Vidhya Nair, Beula de Souza, Melissa Yeming Wang, Omer Arfeen, Krisztina Daniel, Nisha Gaind, Amelia MacGregor, Charlene Ramdeo, Van Nguyen, Abraham Wong, Anjali Ravindran, Tyler Baird, Julia Mittias, Angelic Salvador, Nauman Rafi, Josh Mears, Kelsey King and Alison Isaac.

Many thanks to the faculty coaches who put in a lot of extra time to get our team prepped, including: Brian Press, Jill Schoenhofer, John McManus, Chuck Ireland, Victor Sousa, Alex Stewart, Drew Smylie, Christine Oldfield, Patrick Ellwood, Danica Lavoie, Shanks Seetharam, Ahmad Salman, Alan Dryden, Linda Traill and Dean Cowell. Linda Donville coordinated the entire Centennial team with her usual efficiency and enthusiasm.
