Research on Culture and Religion in the Lives of Young Adults of Immigrant Backgrounds

The University of Ottawa researchers are looking for Centennial students to take part in a research project. Qualified participants will each receive $20 for attending a focus group at Centennial sometime this fall (a date has yet to be determined).

You can qualify for this focus group if:

  • you are between 18 and 30 years old
  • you have at least one parent who came to Canada as an immigrant after 1967
  • you have lived in Canada for at least 8 years
  • you are of Sikh background OR you are of Christian background from one of the following regions: Africa, Korea, the Caribbean or the Philippines

The focus group discussion will last 1.5-2hrs. The discussion will explore the role that culture and religion play in how you see yourself, how you live your life in Canada, and how you see Canadian society and major issues that the world is facing today.

If you would be interested in taking part in this research project or you would like more information about it, please contact researcher Kathryn Carriere by e-mail: carrierekathryn@gmail.com
