Join us for a film preview and discussion: The Visitor

The Visitor (www.thevisitorfilm.com) follows the life of Walter, a professor of economics at Connecticut College. Walter appears to have an easy - but dull - life. He's been teaching the same course for decades, even recycling old syllabuses and lecture notes for his classes. On a trip to New York to deliver a paper at a conference, Walter finds that the Manhattan apartment he keeps, but rarely visits, has been rented to Tarek, a drummer from Syria, and his Senegalese girlfriend, Zainab, who sells handmade jewelry at flea markets. This movie explores the compassion of the human spirit in addition to depicting the harsh realities of immigrants settling in North America. It has been said that this film, "goes more or less where you think it will, [but] it still manages to surprise you along the way."
