Getting pumped for fitness!
The fitness industry has maintained a sustained demand for professionals over the past decade in Canada. With our population aging and chronic disease on the rise, fitness professionals can play a significant role in improving the health of our society. Personal trainers are now working in a variety of arenas including gyms, rehabilitation clinics and private one-one training. There is a also high demand for professionals with knowledge of athletic training and performance. Athletes turn to fitness professionals to improve performance and their game. Fitness professionals play a key role in assisting individuals to achieve their health and fitness goals. Check out our new courses in the field of fitness: The Essentials of Personal Training Symposium is aimed specifically for students who desire to improve their knowledge of personal training. This course will support and disseminate research-based knowledge and its practical application to improve athletic performance and fitness. After completing this course students could pursue a personal training certification such as the National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT®) certification. This course will also provide students the opportunity to review and reinforce exam content areas, including conducting the initial interview with clients, performing proper assessments, setting goals, understanding proper biomechanics, instructing proper technique for resistance training and cardiovascular activities, while manipulating and progressing programs in order to achieve a expressed outcome. Pre-requisite: High School Diploma Essentials of Strength Training and Conditioning Symposium The Essentials of Strength Training and Conditioning Symposium is aimed specifically for students who desire to improve their knowledge of strength training and conditioning. This course will support and disseminate research-based knowledge and its practical application to improve athletic performance and fitness. After completing this course, students could pursue a strength and conditioning certification such as the National Strength and Conditioning Association - Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS®) certification. This course will also provide students the opportunity to review and reinforce exam content areas, including conducting performance testing, goal setting, understanding proper biomechanics, instructing proper technique for resistance training and cardiovascular activities, include speed, agility and plyometric activities, while manipulating and progressing programs based on the principles of periodization, in order to achieve a expressed outcome. Pre-requisite: Bachelors degree preferably in an exercise related field NOTICE: Students should consult the NSCA for exam eligibility and pre-requisites. These courses, by itself, are not intended to fully prepare candidates for the NSCA examinations. Also, these courses are not required to take the examinations.
