A professional financial planner determines the financial needs and objectives of clients, and uses this information to develop a personalized program of savings and investments to help clients realize their goals.

Centennial College offers a Certificate in Financial Planning, as well as a partnership with Advocis and CCH Canadian Ltd, towards the Certified Financial Planner™ program. (You need to achieve a minimum 60% in each course to qualify for Advocis CFP equivalency). See our brochure.

The CFP program is specifically for individuals who wish to become qualified professional financial planners, as well as those who simply want a better understanding of the complex financial world around them, and wish to gain the knowledge that will enable them to structure their financial affairs to best suit their needs and objectives. Achieving financial security for clients is a complex process. Financial markets, taxation laws, investments and investment strategies grow even more complex.

Career opportunities are endless, and include mutual fund representative, self-employed financial planner, financial planning companies, bank or trust company officer, discount brokerage investment representative, life insurance companies, full service investment advisors, credit unions, full service brokers, investment fund companies, or companies that provide financial services and products to individuals.
