"After working in various office environments, I decided to make a career change. I began volunteering in a nursing home helping with their bowling league. Since I thoroughly enjoyed this interaction with seniors, it was suggested to me that I take the Activation Techniques in Gerontology program at Centennial. I found the course taught extremely well by teachers Cindy Martin and Norman MacInnis. They were knowledgeable, helpful and experienced in activation. "I graduated with high honours and am now employed at two long-term care facilities. I love working with the elderly. I know at the end of a busy day I can always say, I made a difference in someone's life by listening, talking, smiling and touching." |
