Research & Scholarship

Members of the Centennial community are invited to engage with the research and scholarship on issues that are emerging from the Centre’s issues, as well as to get involved by submitting your own research project proposal or article. The GCEI Research Fund, Global Citizenship 2.0 Magazine and Journal of Global Citizenship and Equity Education are excellent opportunities to showcase your own work and learn about the work of others.

Critical GCEI Research & Scholarship Project Fund

The Centre has established a GCEI Research Fund that provides funding for faculty and students to develop and implement GCEI research initiatives that examine the principles of global citizenship education, civic action and outcomes of engagement in GCEI.  Projects funded under this initiative will provide data to inform College policy, contribute to the growing field of GCEI and engage the wider College community (staff, students and faculty) in scholarship. To apply for the GCEI Research Fund or for more information, please contact Punita Lumb at plumb@centennialcollege.ca or 416-289-5000, ext. 2083.

Global Citizenship 2.0 Magazine

Published by the Centre for GCEI, Global Citizenship 2.0 Magazine is a hub for sharing ideas on how global citizenship education can foster engaged learners ready to succeed in a knowledge-based, globalized, technology-driven world.  Centennial employees and students are encouraged to share their experiences, perspectives and research with the College community and beyond by submitting to the magazine. For more information on how to submit and upcoming deadlines, please contact the Centre at 416-289-5000, ext. 2464 or email us at gcei@centennialcollege.ca.

Journal of Global Citizenship and Equity Education

The Journal of Global Citizenship and Equity Education is a peer-reviewed academic journal put out by the Centre for GCEI through Open Journal Systems. The Journal provides a place for academics and people doing research around the world to share their research and experiences through engaging and thought provoking discourse.  The Journal is international in scope and encourages diverse approaches to the subjects of global citizenship and equity. To read previous issues of the journal or to learn more about submitting an article, please visit the Journal of Global Citizenship & Equity Education.

Scholar in Residence Program

The Centre is pleased to be able to host a Scholar in Residence as part of the International Scholars at Risk program.  Scholars at Risk (SAR) is an international network of higher education institutions dedicated to protecting threatened scholars, preventing attacks on higher education communities and promoting academic freedom worldwide.  The Scholar in Residence program is a two-year residency that provides the opportunity for an international scholar to engage with the initiatives of our Centre and collaborate with other areas of the College to further the goals of global citizenship and equity education. For further information about the Scholars in Residence program, please contact the Centre at 416-289-5000, ext. 2464 or email us at gcei@centennialcollege.ca.

Centre for GCEI Research Projects

The Centre continues to be engaged in various ongoing research projects related to global citizenship and equity education, including measuring the impact of GCELE projects on Centennial students as well as measuring faculty and students’ experiences of GCE Learning Outcomes Integration.  The findings of these studies are shared with the public at conferences and through research reports.  They continue to pursue opportunities to partner with other institutions/organizations for research purposes as well as pursue external funding opportunities.
