Description:

This course is designed for students to gain an extensive knowledge in the purpose and fundamental of shielded metal arc, MIG and TIG welding. Students will learn about the functions, constructions and application of the shielded metal arc, MIG and TIG welding as well as hands on training on how to set up and use these types of welding equipments. Students will be taught different types of welding technique using the metal arc, MIG and TIG welding equipment. Students will be able to practice these techniques in our state of the art welding facility. Students will learn about the different types of cab control systems, identify these systems as well as diagnose and repair or recommend repair on these system. Students will also be taught about the different types of truck rig configuration and the articulating coach system. Students will study the factors that affect the bridge formula, weight over axle calculations, gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR), gross combined weight rating (GCWR), rig designation, total vehicle length, statutory lane sizing and statutory length and height. Students will also learn about the importance of information in their industry. Students will be taught how to access information using basic computer software and internet tools. Students will learn how to Create letters and reports using a computer and universal software programs. This will help students cope with the ever changing electronic paper less industry they will work in. Students will practice creating spread sheets and navigating the internet.
