The Centennial College Gas Technician 2 (G2) Training provides education in the Natural Gas and Propane Heating Field. You will acquire knowledge of the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) and Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Fuel Code G2 Regulations as described in the B149.1-15 and B149.2-15 Gas Codes. The training includes theory and lab training. Students will learn to maintain, size, select and install gas-fired equipment.

A passing grade of 75% is required on all training assessments. Upon completion of the G2 Training, students must achieve a passing grade of 75% or greater on the Certificate of Qualification exam for Gas Technician 2 from TSSA. The exam is not included in this training. Gas Technician 2 (G2) Training does not guarantee that students will pass the Certificate of Qualification for Gas Technician 2 exam.

Benefits

The heating industry has become very technology focused. Upon successful completion of the Gas Technician 2 Training and passing the mandatory Certificate of Qualification exam for Gas Technician 2 which is administered by TSSA, you will be able to work unsupervised on gas equipment up to and including 400,000 British Thermal Units (btu)/hour.

The Gas Technician 2 license is one of the prerequisites for the Gas Technician 1 license.

You must provide:

  • Current Gas Technician 3 License
  • Photo ID

Mandatory course materials

  • CSA gas code modules 10-24 (Available from the Canadian Standards Association)
  • CSA code book B149.1-15 (from G3 training)
  • CSA code book B149.2-15 (from G3 training)

Tuition and Fees

  • Tuition fee is $2,800.00 (non-refundable) for GAST-201 and GAST-202 (Please note, you must register for GAST-201 and GAST-202)
  • CSA gas code modules 10-24: estimate: $400.00 + tax
  • CSA code book B149.1-15 (from G3 training)
  • CSA code book B149.2-15 (from G3 training)

Date and Time

  • Monday to Friday, 7 hours per day, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
  • GAST-201, 7 weeks, May 9 to June 24, 2016
  • GAST-202, 7 weeks, July 4 to August 19, 2016

How to Register

You may only register in person at Progress Campus.

  1. Bring G3 License + Photo ID to Room D3-18, Progress Campus to the AMAT Assistant for validation. Obtain the Registration and Application Form
  2. Complete the Registration and Application Form and obtain the signature from the AMAT Assistant
  3. Bring the completed Registration and Application Form and pay the fees at the Enrolment Services Office (Room C2-03 at Progress Campus)

The Gas Technician 2 (G2) Training has a limited space of 22 students. The program is being offered on a first come, first serve basis upon full payment of the tuition fee.
