Applicants to Graduate Certificate programs must submit an official transcript demonstrating proof of successful completion of a post-secondary diploma or degree program in health or community services, business (such as management, human resources), hospitality or have five years of work experience in one of these. |

Develop, implement and evaluate a system to maintain consistent client expectations regarding exceptional customer service. Analyze and differentiate among various types of spas for the purpose of conducting market research. Formulate promotional plans for a spa through the use of current and relevant computer software programs. Develop and implement a human relations plan that addresses job descriptions/ posting, interviewing systems, employee evaluations, staff scheduling and compensation packages in routine and non-routine contexts. Assess, predict and construct a menu of spa services as well as pricing strategy that ensures the profitability of a spa business Create, analyze and interpret financial statements relative to a spa business, including profit and loss, breakeven point and operating statements to develop innovative approaches that address real and potential fiscal challenges. Design and evaluate a plan for a spa layout that allows for effective use of space, customer and employee comfort, pleasing aesthetic environment and flexibility in non-routine contexts. Analyze sales and spa activity using industry standard software program such as Salon Account Manager (SAM) and formulate business plans to improve results. Develop policies and practices to comply with labour laws, safety standards and practices relevant to the operation of a spa in routine and unpredictable contexts. Develop seminars and staff training sessions including lesson plans, learning outcomes, manuals, and evaluation of performance criteria.
