Thank you for visiting Second Career at Centennial College. Second Career is a program funded by the Ontario government to help people in need who have been laid off find new career opportunities in growing areas of the economy. The Second Career program will help unemployed workers who commit to a longer term training plan, make the transition to new jobs. Second Career funding can help the applicant with the costs of tuition, books and living expenses. This cost-sharing grant is provided on the basis of need, so you may be asked to contribute what you can to your training or education. Skills training for up to two years in duration will be considered. If academic upgrading or English as a Second Language training is required as a prerequisite to skills training, the total training period can be up to three years. Effective November 20, 2009, there have been some changes to the criteria for Second Career. For more information, visit, Ontario Second Career. Centennial College offers more than 85 Second Career-eligible programs to choose from. Approval for these programs is at the discretion of the Ministry. Your career has a very important place in your life and we look forward to helping you find the right program to meet your career goals. |
