Centennial College is one of the few select post-secondary intuitions chosen to offer Building Green with LEED: LEED Canada for New Construction Rating System 1.0. The course which starts on September 17, 2009, is the second offering through the School of Engineering Technology and Applied Science. The LEED-NC Rating System is a comprehensive, voluntary, market-driven Building Rating System that recognizes buildings that incorporate design, construction, high-performance systems and materials towards a reduced environmental impact. It is the most widely used rating system in North America and has become the definitive benchmark for what constitutes a "green building". Key areas to be discussed in detail include: - Sustainable Site Development
- Water Savings
- Energy Efficiency
- Materials Selection
- Indoor Environmental Quality
In-class learning will be supplemented by case studies, field trips and selected guest speakers who will provide a "real life" contact for the technical information in the Guide. The course will also provide an in-depth familiarity with the Rating System and will help support students who wish to take a LEED Professional Accreditation Exam. Cost: $550 When: September 17 to December 3, 2009 Thursdays from 6pm to 9 pm Where: Centennial Science and Technology Centre [Directions] Click here for more information and to register |
