Malcolm Kelly, Program Coordinator
Malcolm Kelly has been a sports journalist for 27 years, covering everything from amateur and Olympic-style to high school and professional events. He’s been an NBA writer (Toronto Raptors), NHL writer (Toronto Maple Leafs), Major League Baseball reporter (Toronto Blue Jays) and has worked on the CFL beat. Malcolm is also a best-selling author of four books, including The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Canadian Sports History and Hanging it Out on Camera Three: Canadian Sports in the Media Era. Malcolm has worked for the CBC, National Post, Ottawa Citizen, Southam Newspapers, Canadian Press, Associated Press, Canwest Newspapers and Thomson Newspapers, plus spent some time in pro basketball as a public relations professional. Barb DiGiulio
Barb DiGiulio is a midday sportscaster and host at the FAN 590 and 680 News. She's been with the FAN since day one of the all sports radio station back in 1992, and has hosted tv shows for Score Golf and Pokerstars. She is very involved in the community and does fundraising work with a number of charities, including Sick Kids Foundation, Weekend to End Breast Cancer, and Easter Seals. |
Scott Russell
Scott Russell has worked at CBC Sports for over 20 years, covering eight Olympics as a reporter and host including the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing. A regular host on CBC Sportsweekend, he began his career at CBC Charlottetown in 1985 before moving to CBMT in Montreal for four years and then on to Toronto. In addition to a long run with Hockey Night in Canada, Scott has also covered triathlon, gymnastics, rugby, cross-country skiing and biathlon at numerous Olympics, Pan Am and Commonwealth Games. An accomplished author, Scott wrote Ice time: A Canadian Hockey Journey, and Open House: Canada and the Magic of Curling, as well as co-writing The Rink: Stories from Hockey's Home Towns (with Chris Cuthbert). Scott ran the Boston Marathon in 2005, finishing 6,700th out of 20,000. |
Shi Davidi
Shi Davidi is the national baseball writer for The Canadian Press, covering the Toronto Blue Jays and all matters relating to the sport in this country. He's also an accomplished editor who has overseen the national news agency's coverage of major events like Olympic Games, Stanley Cup finals and Grey Cup championships. Additionally, he's been a trailblazer in The Canadian Press' innovative work with online video, seamlessly transitioning between mediums while on assignment. Before his byline regularly appeared in newspapers and media websites from coast-to-coast, Shi served as a general news assignment reporter for the Jerusalem Post, covering everything from a diplomatically sensitive Jordanian military funeral in the West Bank to a scandal involving the Mossad's alleged attempts to obtain Canadian passports. Later he worked as a foreign news editor for the Tokyo-based Japan Times, helping select, edit and lay out stories for the newspaper's international pages. Shi's work has been recognized with three Canadian Press Livewire awards and the Canadian Journalism Foundation's Greg Clark Award. |
Teddy Katz
For more than a decade, Teddy Katz has traveled the world to bring Canadians some of the most compelling sports stories around the globe. As a news reporter with a passion for sports journalism, Teddy has led CBC Radio's coverage for all the top international sports events including the Olympic Games, the World Cup, and numerous Commonwealth and Pan American games. He has won several awards for his work including "Black Ice", a documentary that examined racism in hockey. He believes in having a bird's eye view of the sports world, which allows him to go behind the scenes to look for the stories and issues beyond the scores in sport. His love for storytelling shines through in his documentaries, which have been broadcast on many different CBC programs. Teddy looks for the kind of stories that can shine a light on political, cultural and social issues in Canada and beyond and believes sport is the perfect venue. Teddy began his career with CBC as a news reporter and producer in Fredericton, New Brunswick, in 1989 where he worked until 1991. After he moved to Barcelona, Spain, where he freelanced for many of the top news organizations, learned fluent Spanish, and met his future wife. He was born in Hamilton, Ontario and earned a Bachelor of Journalism degree from Carleton University. |
