Centennial will play an integral, active role within the communities it serves. We will make a difference in the lives of those around us. After all, we are asking our students to do these very things. To ask any less of ourselves would be hypocritical and go against everything for which this institution stands. We will continue our leading-edge work to aid under-represented groups such as first-generation students, Aboriginals, internationally-trained individuals and students with disabilities, championing their cause to access and succeed in post-secondary education.
We will do so in various ways, including:
- Promotion of community outreach programs and initiatives;
- Revitalization of college service structure and philosophy in a way that removes barriers and ensures consistency, connectivity and efficiency;
- Provision of opportunities for students to connect with each other, the College, Alumni, the faculty and the services that will help them succeed;
- Transformation of transfer credit and advanced standing practices and we will work with local businesses, community organizations and leaders to address community issues through initiatives such as:
- Environmental sustainability; - Community sustainability - working with youth; - Engagement with the business community; - Student engagement in educational activities that help build a healthy community; - Establishment of a College community engagement office; - Enhancement of local businesses' applied research and innovation capacity.
