Dean Cowell, Program Coordinator
Dean Cowell has spent 18 years in advertising agencies working on the account management/marketing side of the business in a variety of industries including banking, retail, foodservice, and confectionary, with a focus on packaged goods. Dean helped develop advertising plans for brands like Caramilk (he knows how they get the caramel in the Caramilk bar), Ralston Purina and Philadelphia Cream Cheese (worked on the ‘made in Canada' now global, award winning "Heaven" campaign). Dean also managed a team responsible for a highly successful Integrated Marketing program for the Nabob Coffee Company. Dean won "Centennial's Teacher of the Year" in 2003. In 2007, he was recognized as one of 100 of Ontario's best faculty with the Leadership in Faculty Teaching Award (LIFT). The LIFT Award was developed to recognize and encourage teaching excellence at Ontario's colleges and universities. This award was given out to faculty who influence, motivate and inspire students and demonstrate leadership in teaching methods for the diverse student body in Ontario. Dean is one of three full time Professors in the Advertising Department teaching, among other courses: Marketing, Integrated Marketing, Account Management and Advertising Issues. Joy Thorne-Enright
Since 1993, Joy Thorne-Enright has been helping students launch new careers in advertising in the Toronto market, and is the program coordinator for the Advertising Program at The Centre for Creative Communications, Centennial College. Prior to entering teaching, Joy was the Creative Director for Sears Canada for their retail stores across Canada and managed a staff of approximately 30 writers and artists and also worked with advertising agencies on special projects. During her advertising career, Joy also worked on many committees including Scarborough Board of Education - Special Education Advisory Committee, VOICE for Hearing Impaired Children, and the Perinatal Bereavement Association. Her education includes two years in the Advertising Program at Centennial College (the same program she coordinates now). She is a Certified Advertising Agency Practitioner, and holds a certificate in Teacher of Adults. |
Colette Brochu
Colette Brochu has over 16 years experience in developing and executing advertising and media campaigns for well renowned Canadian companies in a variety of industries. She has held senior roles in the television industry working for two major Canadian Stations: CBC Television and W Network. She has a strong background in both the print and broadcast side of the advertising business and has taught at other Ontario Colleges and is now exclusively teaching at Centennial College. |
David Chalmers
David Chalmers has been active in the consumer marketing world for over 30 years. He began his career at the international research company, A. C. Neilsen, before turning to communications. In 25 years with Leo Burnett Advertising, where he became an Executive Vice President and Client Services Director, David gained experience with, and insight into, every area of communications. He has successfully led programs for many high profile, strategically driven, national and international clients including Bell, Pepsi Cola, Kellogg's, P&G, Pillsbury Green Giant, VISA, Nintendo, Wrigley, Carter-Horner, and Signature Vacations. More recently he has partnered in a venture to help clients market to the Boomer target group-Boomers Marketing. He is combining this communications consulting business with teaching Account Management Practices and Advertising Planning/Campaign Management at Centennial College. |
Chris DeCornielle
Chris DeCornielle is an innovative individual with solid teaching and training experience, certified in the advertising industry, possessing more than 23 years of client focused, multifaceted business communications exposure. He has solid experience in: Media buying and planning/ Account Management/ Media Sales/ Presentation and Communication skills. He is presently an entrepreneur designing I.M.C. strategies for clients through his company, Sound Strategies. Chris teaches Business Practices and Portfolio Development. |
Mary Snobelen
Mary has over 15 years experience in developing and executing advertising campaigns and promotions, and has held increasingly responsible positions with major national and regional agencies. A meticulous planner and keen negotiator, she has managed campaigns from $50,000 to over 15 million dollars in virtually every major category of product and service sold in Canada. |
