What is this program about? Advertising Media Management is a unique post-graduate program preparing you for a career in the advertising and communications industry in the role of strategic media planning and buying. This hands-on and intensive industry-approved program will provide you with the fundamentals of media management, with a focus on consumer-driven communication channel choices for advertising messages. You will develop new job-ready skills in: • Media campaign planning and implementation in order to achieve marketing and advertising objectives. • Industry software application that aids with researching target audiences, cost campaigns and monitor their success. • Consumer targeting with media in the communication mix: reaching the right people at the right time in the right place with the right communication channel. • Identifying, evaluating and selecting appropriate mass, targeted, promotional and digital media vehicles. • Developing complete integrated media plans and buys as a member of a team to solve complex communication problems with short deadlines, utilizing a realistic budget. How long is this program? The one-year program is 3 semesters long: 2 of which are in the classroom/labs and the third one is a non-paid placement semester where you will be able to demonstrate your newly acquired learning and skills in a real life job environment. You can apply through www.ontariocolleges.ca and once your application is received, you will be notified to attend a Program Admission Session where you will learn more about the program, meet the coordinator and tour the school. You will also fill-out a questionnaire and complete a math assessment. More information. I haven't done math in a while. What math skills do I need to brush-up on? The math assessment is based on basic business math: adding, multiplying, dividing and calculating percentages. • University degree or College diploma or a combination of partial post-secondary education and relevant work experience. When will I know if I am accepted? The equal consideration deadline for applications is February 1. So applying early through ontariocolleges.ca will improve your chances of acceptance. Offers for all Ontario College programs are mailed near the end of March but you may apply anytime. We'll receive about 100 applications for a limited space program. No. The program is full-time and weekdays only. How many hours per week can I expect to be in class? The program is designed to provide intensive training in media planning and buying over three months in order to fast track careers. There are 20-24 hours of in-class and lab time for two semesters followed by a third semester which is field placement. We aim to schedule these hours over 4 days. How much of it is job placement, and what is the percentage of students who remain working at their placed location after the course is complete? It will be 15 weeks of field placement and again, since it's a new program we don't have percentages on those who will remain. Similar 1 year programs have a 85% placement rate. What are the career prospects like? Great. Advertising Media Managers are in high demand. Starting salaries are in the $28M-$32M range. 3-5 years experience $50M+ and then it can jump to 6 figures after 7 years . |
