Digital Animation
FAQ

Do our graduates find jobs right away?
Digital Animation students are job-ready upon graduation, because our streamlined production-style environment allows them to build a strong foundation of general skills during the first term, and then specialize in one or more areas of interest during the second term. Our 14-month program provides students with all the skills they need to get their first job in the animation industry.

Are the instructors industry professionals?
Every member of our faculty, which can number up to 25 people, has many years of professional industry experience in animation or their area of expertise. Most of our instructors are currently working full-time in the animation industry.

Many of our instructors are graduates of Centennial’s Digital Animation Program who return to the College in order to make a contribution to the Program that helped launch their careers. Our students benefit from having direct contact with the industry through their instructors.

How many students are in each class?
Our students receive a very individualized educational experience designed to help them succeed. We do not exceed 15 students per class.

Do students have their own workstations? What about lab access?
Our students each have a dedicated, personal workstation to use throughout their study period. Our Digital Animation labs are not used by any other programs at the college, and student workstations are protected by secure logins. Animation students are issued security access cards, and have access to labs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, except when the College is closed for official holidays.

Are there field placement opportunities after graduation?
YES. See Field Placement FAQ.

Do students get help compiling a Demo Reel of their work?
Instructors work 1-on-1 with students throughout the last part of the second term to help them build a strong portfolio. Students present their Demo Reels at a formal critique with a panel of instructors. This practice job interview allows students to hone their presentation skills and provides them with invaluable feedback and advice from established animation industry professionals.

Is 1-on-1 instructional assistance available?
Throughout their study period, all of our students receive several hours per week of personal instruction, tailored to their own individual interests and needs. Personal attention is one of the key components of our Program.
