Graduate Jason Rhyno

After my internship was finished, I stayed in contact with Peter Carter over the summer. He ended up sending me to an editor friend of his who needed an intern at jobpostings magazine.

To make a long story short, three months into my internship I gave a web strategy presentation which went over extremely well. So well, in fact, that it got me a second interview for the editor-in-chief position which had just recently came up. I had to put every single ounce of knowledge that I learned from the program (and through that, I realized what separated people in our program from J-school students). It was a serious fight -- I was going up against heavy hitters(some with 20 years experience), but i got the job and much of that is due to what I learned at Centennial.

Everything you spoke about during my time in the program, keeping in touch with contacts (and not talking bad about people), realizing that we do have the knowledge and the skill (and ON THE DANFORTH Magazine experience) to get the job and to get it done well. So thanks.

"The Book and Magazine Publishing program at Centennial gave me a strong understanding of the Canadian publishing industry, offered numerous opportunities to meet industry professionals, and introduced me to classmates who have now become good friends. I was hired by the company at which I interned. The program works."
