Industry Expertise

Our program was formulated by some of the very best - and most respected - contemporary producers, writers and directors in children's entertainment in Canada, comprising our program advisory committee, including:

  • S. Lawrence Mirkin: graduate of Yale Drama, who produced numerous shows for Jim Henson, the man whose vision - via the Children's Television Workshop and Sesame Street - revolutionized Children's Entertainment in the 1970s, 80s and 90s.
  • Laura Phillips: writer/producer of Jake and The Kid and writer of Jim Henson's Labyrinth, Fraggle Rock and The Christmas Toy.
  • Jed Mackay: producer of numerous TVOntario shows such as Today's Special, Join In and Polka Dot Shorts.
  • Pat Ellingson: creative head of TVOntario.
  • Matt Wexler: Licencing Manager of Spinmaster Toys, a company currently on the cutting edge of new entertainment for kids.
  • Mark Bishop: Co-Founder of marblemedia, a content creation company at the forefront of television and new media production, devoted to telling stories that entertain and engage audiences across all platforms.
  • Adina Pitt: VP Acquisitions, Nickelodeon
  • Lynn Oldershaw: Developmental Psychology, CBC Children's Dept
  • Rich Collins: Pres Big Tent Entertainment, New York
  • Kate Barris: Children's writer on such shows as Today's Special, Mr. Dressup, Canadian Sesame Street, Big Comfy Couch, Stickin' Around, Eckhart and Peep and the Big Wide World, the award-winning show, If the World Were a Village, and she's been executive story editor for Skinnamarink TV, The Hippo Tub Co., Wilbur and Max & Ruby and the forthcoming CBC show, The Mighty Jungle.
