Amaya spent 16 years in Mexico before moving to Canada. She is a lawyer who worked on legislative and policy reforms related to children and women’s rights. In Mexico she wrote several laws and reforms related to human trafficking, child protection systems and procedures, adoption, sexual crimes against children, forced disappearances, and others. She also worked for UNICEF for several years and for ECPAT USA on the prevention of sexual exploitation of children in travel and tourism in Brazil, Mexico and Belize. She moved to Canada in 2015 and graduated at Centennial College from International Development and International Business Management with honors. She worked for a refugee law office in Toronto and then moved to Ottawa to work at World Vision Canada as Responsible Business Advisor. She is now Policy Advisor in GAC, at the Responsible Business Practices Team.
