Airport Procedures

While you are arriving to Canada on a plane, you will receive a CBSA Declaration Card while you are on board and you must complete it prior to arrival. This discloses information to the Canada Border Service Agency (CBSA) about the purpose of your travel and what you are bringing to Canada. When you arrive in Canada, you will be met by an officer from the CBSA at a point of entry. The CBSA is responsible for border and point of entry activities in Canada. It is important to indicate to the CBSA officer that the purpose for your travel to Canada is to study. Provide all the required entry documents for the CBSA upon arrival in Canada. For more information on specific documents needed, visit Prepare for Arrival on the Government of Canada website.

Remember to pick up your study permit before you leave the airport. If you have been granted admission into an academic program that allows you to work in Canada, it is a good idea to check your study permit when the officer issues you one at the airport. In order to be eligible to work off-campus, your study permit must have conditions or remarks that state you “may accept employment on or off campus” or “may work 20 hours per week off-campus”. If you don’t see these conditions or remarks, you may ask the officer about your eligibility to work off-campus and have the permit amended, if necessary. Don't forget to also check all your personal information printed on your study permit for accuracy.

Transportation Options from Pearson International Airport

If you hadn’t arranged for airport pickup prior to arriving into Canada, here are other options for getting from the airport to your place of accommodation.

If you did book Airport Pickup, ensure that you have received a confirmation email with emergency contact numbers in case your flights change.

Visit the Destination Ontario Welcome Desk

While at the airport, stop by the Destination Ontario Welcome Desk at Terminal 1 or Terminal 3 between 7 am to 11 pm. The helpful staff can provide further information about local transportation, accommodation options, college orientation, banking services, currency exchange and much more. You'll also get to enjoy refreshments and a free phone call home to your family!

Arriving after hours? Download the Centennial College "iCent" App (available on the App Store and Google Play) and complete the Airport Arrival Form to access off-hour support.
