WIMTACH team wins $150,000 for industry partner
Centennial College students with Wearable, Interactive and Mobile Technology Access Centre in Health (WIMTACH) have – yet again – demonstrated their aptitude for taking applied research projects from mere ideas to outstanding success.
Thanks to a presentation by students Oleksandr Palchevskyi and Devesh Vasnani working on a project for McCray Optical Supply Inc., a WIMTACH industry partner, an Industry Technology Advisor (ITA) with IRAP (Industrial Research Assistance Program) awarded McCray $150,000 to further develop the project. McCray Optical, an optical industry leader, is working with WIMTACH to develop an Android app that uses augmented reality (AR) and machine vision to automate the measurement process for clip-on glasses.
At Centennial College, WIMTACH has a proven track record for innovation and success with companies that want to take their applied research project innovations from idea to commercialization. While bringing a world of expertise, state-of-the-art facilitates and professionalism to the digital health technology industry in Ontario and Canada, WIMTACH is proud to offer valuable collaborative, experiential learning opportunities to Centennial students to take with them into the classroom and beyond.
