How Centennial College can help you fulfill your New Year’s resolutions
It’s been a long 2017, and now that it’s almost over, it’s time to have a look at what’s happening in 2018. Have you made any resolutions yet? Depending on what you’ve decided to do, Centennial College can help you make it happen. If you want to gain a new skill, or get a new hobby, that’s specifically what the college provides you with. Meanwhile, if you’re already going here, we have services that will help you improve yourself. Here’s a few common resolutions, and the ways we can help make them happen.
It’s one of the most common new year’s resolutions, but it’s common for a good reason: Bettering yourself is always worth doing. There’s a lot of different ways Centennial College can help with this goal. If you’re a student at the school, you have free access to our Athletic and Wellness Centre, full of two floors of exercise machines, an indoor track, and a climbing wall, among other things. You can also take part in classes or personal training, to help yourself develop a fitness plan.
If you’re not at Progress Campus, we have facilities at Morningside and the Story Arts Centre, too. If you’re looking to make it into more of a hobby, you could even join the Colts, our varsity sports teams. If you want to incorporate health into your career, on the other hand, you can study Nutrition and Food Management, where you use your knowledge of nutrition for social good, by applying it to hospitals, homes and healthcare organizations, making sure everyone’s properly fed.
Connect with your family and friends
The best way to connect with friends at Centennial is to take part in campus life. The CCSAI can keep you informed about events happening on campus, and about the clubs that are available for you to join. You can make a career out of connecting to the community with our long-running Recreation and Leisure Services program, for people that want to organize, plan and run our leisure time, making people happy, active, and more connected to each other. Or you can take part in our Event Management program, and learn to conceptualize, organize and execute events, from small meetings to large festivals and conferences that bring people closer together.
As a Centennial College student, you have the chance to travel the world thanks to our Global Citizenship and Equity Learning Experiences (GCELES). They can take you on journeys across the globe, where you don’t just see the world, but help out and learn in the process. During a GCELE you’ll participate in community projects and serve as an agent of positive change, while learning about global citizenship and social justice. In previous years, these trips have taken us to Kenya, Mexico, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and other countries.
While you’re at school, our financial services department can help you organize your money, as well as make sure you don’t miss out on any scholarships and bursaries you can earn, which is important, because a lot of it goes unclaimed every year. In fact, managing your money is so important, that you may want to turn it into a career, since so many people need help with it. We can help you do that with our business and financial programs, including Financial Services, Financial Planning and others.
