Celebrating Islamic Heritage Month

Celebrating Islamic Heritage Month

Centennial College is proud to celebrate Islamic History Month and recognize the incredible achievements of the diverse Muslim community in Canada. In 2007, the Government of Canada declared the month of October as Canadian Islamic History Month to acknowledge the outstanding contributions of the Muslim community to the social, economic, political, and cultural fabric of Canada. During this month, we are all encouraged to engage in dialogue and self-reflection on the diverse positive impacts of the Muslim community on Canada’s past, present, and future. This year, Centennial College is excited to share with you programming that highlights Muslim excellence, as well as opportunities to challenge and disrupt the impacts and intersections of islamophobia, racism and xenophobia.

Upcoming events include:

  • Spend your lunch hour with Canada's MasterChef finalist Reem Ahmed! Register for Live (virtual) Cooking Demo on October 7th from 12-1pm.
  • Join us for a candid and interactive Q&A with Ginella Massa, Canada’s first hijab-wearing television news reporter and host of CANADA TONIGHT. Register for Islam Excellence with Ginella Massa on October 28th from 12-1pm.
  • Register for Conversations for Social Change: Combatting Islamophobia on October 19, from 11:30 pm 1:00 pm.
