Legislative Compliance Training

Centennial College is committed to providing accessible, inclusive and safe places for its students, employees, and visitors. The Centre for Organizational Learning and Teaching (COLT) offers and supports various mandatory training modules required to be completed by all Centennial employees.  Hosted on eCentennial, the college’s learning management system, staff, and faculty are able to access government mandated training modules anytime.

Accessibility and Universal Design in Learning (UDL) – Faculty Only

Teaching and learning excellence is tied to teaching and learning accessibility. This self-paced online course aimed for instructors and curriculum & program developers in mind consists of four interrelated modules that cover legislative, theoretical, and political background for accessible education, as well as practical strategies to implement Universal Design in Learning (UDL) in a post-secondary educational context.  The main focus of the training is on UDL as a way to create accessible learning environments that meet the needs of students from diverse backgrounds, abilities and learning styles. Any Centennial College employee can access and complete the learning modules through eCentennial and is open to anyone who would like to learn more about accessible education and UDL.

Learning Outcome(s):

  • Familiarity with legislative requirements (AODA, IASR, OHRC) and their impact on program & course design and delivery
  • Understanding disability, disability justice, accessibility, and barriers to accessing services
  • Supporting academic accommodations and other available supports for students with disabilities

Integrated Accessibility Standard Regulation (IASR) & Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC)

Hosted on eCentennial, this online module extends on the AODA Act and provides context on how the IASR and the OHRC interact and apply to colleges.

Sexual Assault and Sexual Violence Policy Training

Hosted on eCentennial and released in late September 2015, all College employees are required to complete this training as it is everyone’s responsibility to know and understand the policy in order to respond appropriately, with empathy, sensitivity, and tact to a disclosure of Sexual Assault and Sexual Violence.

Violence and Prevention Policy and Procedures Awareness Training

Hosted on eCentennial, all College employees are required to complete this online training, which informs all college employees about their rights and responsibilities with regard to violence and harassment prevention in the workplace.
