Canadian Environment Week
Date: May 31, 2020 12:00 AM
June 08, 2020 12:00 AM
Venue: All Campuses
Established in 1971, Canadian Environment Week focuses on celebrating Canada’s environmental accomplishments and encourages Canadians to conserve and protect their environment. This is needed now more than ever.
The theme for this year is TIME FOR NATURE.
Nature provides the food we eat, the air we breathe, the water we drink and makes our planet habitable. What COVID-19 is teaching us is “to care for ourselves means to care for nature”. Although we cannot physically come together, we can still join the cause virtually and engage in the global discussion. We need to build back our economy in a sustainable way to protect nature and in turn, make societies more resilient from future threats.
We have rounded up a number of ways you can participate in #EnviroWeek virtually!
- Explore how indigenous ecological knowledge is sustaining and restoring nature across Canada.
- Enrol in Earth School by TedEd, created for students around the world to learn about the importance of nature for everything we are dependent on. Within each lesson, you’ll find fascinating resources complied by Earth experts and ideas for getting involved through everyday actions.
- Virtually participate in World Environment Day 2020 and take part in any one of the global activities scheduled for #EnviroWeek.
- Learn about how together we can protect our oceans and lakes for #WorldOceansDay.
We welcome you to join the discussion and share your thoughts on social media using the #EnviroWeek and #CCSustainability!Download This Event
