It is recommended that students contact their faculty, and then follow the appeals process if they’re unable to resolve the situation.
Professors have been working hard to shift courses to Teaching at a Distance using a variety of digital collaboration tools and technology. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we work towards the semester recovery plans. Please regularly check the Centennial College website for the most recent important information.
Yes, you can. It is important to note that if you are a full-time student in the summer semester, with a full course load, adding an additional elective from the fall will cost an additional fee.
During summer registration there is a timeframe when access is open to other semester courses that are running for many programs. After building your timetable, If you do choose additional courses which are more than your program semester course load, web registration will inform you of the additional cost.
Labs, field and clinical placements, and all or part of unpaid co-op work are moving to Teaching at a Distance model where feasible. We’re working in a pandemic context and health and safety are paramount and impact the extent we can offer important experiential learning and assessment opportunities. Please know that we are doing our best with your future careers and life plan needs at the forefront. Please regularly check the Centennial College website for the most recent important information.

Online learning is often perceived as being of inferior quality to face to face learning, despite contrary research. While in-person learning has many benefits, quality online courses carry parallel benefits. The key is in the power of engagement: (A) the quality and quantity of time students invest in their learning and (b) the quality invested by experts in creating online learning environments (and the College is investing in this capacity), and also guiding and evaluating learning. Experts can still guide and evaluate learning and capabilities essential in the workplace.
Deferral requests for fall semester that have been submitted will be responded to once we have more clarity about how the fall semester will be offered - likely towards the end of the summer based on public health information.
Our summer semester will be delivered online. Fall Semester 2020 is scheduled to begin on September 8, 2020 as planned, and we are planning for three scenarios: (A) back to normal, (b) continuing online (if we need to stay closed), and (c) a hybrid of both online and on-campus for the experiential learning and assessment pieces.
The total cost of college for students is comprised of two components: Tuition and fees (ancillary, lockers, parking, program/incidental). Tuition costs have no room for flexibility – evidenced by the fact that no college across the Ontario system will be in a position to reduce tuition. However, we agree that students should not be paying for goods or services that you do not have access to; notably facilities that have been required to close for public safety or services that cannot be offered virtually. As a result, total cost for learning at a distance will be lower. For learning at a distance courses taught during Summer Term 2020, the cost for the semester will be at least $190 less than the in-person offering due to the elimination and/or reduction of ancillary fees.
