Our Centennial Place Residence at Progress Campus remains open, but all large residence gatherings and events are postponed for the time being.
In addition to our standard procedures for cleaning and disinfecting common areas, we have taken hygiene measures a step further. We have added hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes to all public-access areas, including the Leasing Office and Front Desk, Main Lounge, and closed non-essential amenity spaces such as Common Kitchens & Lounges, etc. We are also displaying handwashing and hygiene posters from the College and Toronto Public Health, as well as Telehealth Ontario in all public spaces and restrooms. In addition, we have sent communications to our residents and employees with Toronto Public Health’s tips on how to reduce the likelihood of coming into contact with COVID-19, like washing your hands, covering your mouth when coughing or sneezing, disinfecting frequently touched surfaces and staying home when you’re sick.
We are committed to keeping you informed when we learn of any member of the College community who has been on campus and has tested positive for COVID-19. Incidence details are limited due to privacy requirements. Campuses with no new cases are not listed in this update, nor are cases where the individual has not been on campus.
Our COVID-19 Dashboard on the main Centennial website tracks all of our on-campus cases since the beginning of the pandemic and is updated regularly, serving as our primary method for communicating positive cases among students and employees on campus. As with the seasonal flu, the most important step we can take to keep the office and the community healthy is to ensure all our employees stay at home if they are sick. Employees are not permitted to report to work if they are sick or showing flu-like symptoms. Unfortunately, the Residence Agreement is a binding contract and cannot be terminated due to illness or the impact of COVID-19 elsewhere in the world. If you are unable to make a payment on time due to extenuating circumstances, please reach out to the property to discuss your situation and payment options.
Procedures may vary on a case-by-case basis, depending on the situation at that time. We will coordinate with local and/or College health officials as needed to make the best determination and assessment for those particular individuals. Residents who notify Management of confirmed COVID-19 infection will be relocated to private, quarantined units in Centennial Place away from other students.
We unfortunately do not have the ability to provide all our residents with personal cleaning supplies, and we need to make sure we have enough on hand to clean our high-frequency touch points and offices so that our team is able to support you on-site and come into a healthy work environment. When supplies are hard to come by online, it can be helpful to call local stores to see if they have the item in stock.
Please keep in mind, we are not medical professionals and cannot offer health advice. However, if you think you have been exposed to COVID-19 and develop flu-like symptoms, call your healthcare provider immediately or call TeleHealth Canada at Toll-free: 1-866-797-0000. Stay home except to get medical care. Do not go to work, school or public areas. Separate yourself from other people in your apartment. As much as possible, you should stay in a specific room and away from other people in your apartment. Also, you should use a separate bathroom, if available. Call ahead before visiting your doctor. If you have a medical appointment, call the healthcare provider and tell them that you have or may have COVID-19. This will help the healthcare provider’s office take steps to keep other people from getting infected or exposed. Please refer to the Public Health Agency of Canada website.
Centennial Place can only track or monitor the travel of residents who advise us of their plans; beyond this, we are unable to track or monitor the in-and-out movements of our residents, including their destinations when they leave the Residence.
