Student Services and Support FAQs
You are paying tuition fees for a quality education and we will continue to deliver that quality during the Teaching at a Distance period from March 23 to the end of the semester, so tuition will not be refunded. During the recent temporary suspension of classes, our faculty used the time to transform their learning materials and create digital content accessible remotely. Student services such as counselling have also migrated to formats that you can access from the comfort of home. We are committed to supporting you in completing your semester with us. You will receive your own Semester Recovery Plan tailored with this goal in mind.
Convocation will be held virtually in June 2021. All details about Convocation can be found on our convocation webpage.
As of Saturday, March 14, our Progress Campus Child Care Centre, East York Early Childhood Education Centre and the Diefenbaker childcare location will be closed in compliance with direction from Toronto Public Health until further notice.
Whether you are anxious about catching COVID-19, or worried about loved ones living in a country impacted by COVID-19, please know that the College understands your concerns and is able to provide services to help you through this worrying time. Students can reach out to friends, teachers, advisors or staff at the Student Experience Office for any needed support. As well, support is available through one of the College’s counselors working at the Centre for Accessible Learning and Counselling Services.
Starting March 23, the Centre for Academic English will transition its tutoring to online instruction. To access tutoring online, you will need a laptop or desktop computer with a webcam and a headset. If you wish to participate in online tutoring, log into my centennial, click on Student Services and in the box that says Centre for Academic English, click "Book an Appointment". You will receive an email through your @myCentennial account containing a link and instructions on how and when to meet with your online tutor. Please read this email carefully, and contact us at email@example.com if you have any questions or issues. Then, before your appointment, you will receive a reminder email.
On March 17, the College made the difficult decision to close its campuses and learning sites, including our libraries, computer labs, fitness facilities, student centres, bookstores, Censation Esthetics Student Clinic, and Massage Therapy Public Clinic. Students can access library and bookstore services online. Please regularly check the Centennial College website for the most recent important information.
Students can request a transcript online via the myCentennial student portal. Transcripts are mailed out every Thursday to the address selected on the transcript request. To submit a request for your transcript:
- Sign into myCentennial
- Select "Student Records"
- Select "Request Official Transcript"
Follow the steps to order your transcript for mailing. Please ensure you provide a full address of where you wish to have your transcript mailed. You will be charged $12 for each copy of your transcript. Please have your credit card handy before you log on.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all campus Bookstores are closed. While you can’t shop in person, the Online Bookstore will remain open. While the Bookstores remain closed, they are offering free ground shipping within Canada on all orders to enhance your eLearning experience. The Ontario Indigenous Travel Grant (OITG) continues to be available to help full-time eligible post-secondary students, and/or their spouse and/or dependent children living with them, to assist with the costs of travelling between their remote First Nations community to the post-secondary school they are attending.
The Ministry of Colleges and Universities will also review and approve the requirement to make additional trips (i.e., return home due to COVID-19 and make additional return trips to school to complete practicum) as a one-time exception to the existing maximum number of allowable trips.
The Ministry recognizes that eligible students may have been impacted by unexpected surges in travel-related costs. If eligible students find themselves in this situation, please contact your Student Financial Services representative at firstname.lastname@example.org for more details or visit Student Financial Aid on our website.
Consistent with 2019-20 OSAP policy, expired cards can be accepted as Indigenous identification for OSAP-purposes. As per Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada, “Indian status does not expire (an individual’s card can)”.
Semester End: Loaner Devices, Locker Contents and Textbooks
Device loan agreements include a clause advising that students must return devices to the College before their transcript is released. We will make some exceptions for graduates who require a transcript for employment purposes and international students who need a transcript for the Post-Graduate Work Permit Program. If you still have a loaner device but need a copy of your transcript for these purposes, send your request to email@example.com.
Due to the current state of emergency, non-essential campus access remains strictly limited to those participating in, or supporting, academic delivery (labs, classes or studio work). Students who are scheduled to be on campus may select a locker to use for the semester. There is no fee for locker use.
Students not scheduled to be on campus, and who have not yet emptied their locker, may email experienceCC@centennialcollege.ca if they have an immediate, urgent need to retrieve its contents. Please allow two business days for a response.
When the current restrictions are lifted, students can request access to retrieve locker contents using this form.
