Get to know our COVID-19 readiness plan – Centennial’s Entry Protocol for International Students

Centennial had prepared a comprehensive COVID-19 preparedness plan in order to be able to welcome international students to Canada. Now that the plan is approved by the government and our students are eligible to travel, it is critical that you understand the expectations and follow all requirements outlined in the plan.

1. 14-day quarantine

All travellers entering Canada are required to quarantine for 14 days (without delay) and must have a plan for the quarantine. This is mandatory, even if you have no symptoms of COVID-19 or have tested negative for the virus prior your travel.

Your quarantine plan must be submitted to Centennial International department via the Country of Residence survey (current students) or the document management page (new students) so that it can be reviewed to ensure it meets the Government of Canada's quarantine guidelines

If you do not know how to arrange a quarantine accommodation, consider staying at one of the hotels Centennial has made an arrangement with, which are all near the Toronto airport.

If you are signing a lease at Centennial Place residence, you can also make quarantine arrangements at the residence. Please contact centennialresidence@studenthousing.com or 416-438-2216, Ext. 6294 for more information.

2. COVID-19 testing

As part of the COVID-19 readiness plan, Ontario government requires all newly arrived international students to be tested for COVID-19 towards the end of their 14-day quarantine period. This is mandatory even if you had tested negative for the virus before your travel to Canada and it is required for co-arriving family members if you are travelling with your immediate family members. Centennial International department will arrange the testing at your quarantine site once your arrival is confirmed and there will be no cost to the student or the immediate family members.

3. Monitoring your health

You will receive phone calls, emails and push notifications during your quarantine to make sure you are well supported.

To receive calls and push notifications, please download below apps prior to your arrival so you are ready to stay connected with us starting day 1 of your quarantine:

4. Airport transportation

Centennial has partnered with Airline Limousine to provide a safe transfer from the Toronto Pearson airport to your quarantine site within the city, whether they be a hotel, a private residence or Centennial’s student residence. We will arrange your transportation once your quarantine plan and flight information are verified and follow up with you via email with details.

Booking Your Flight

Please remember that airline officials will be conducting a health check, and anyone showing symptoms of COVID-19 will not be able to board their flight to Canada.

When booking travel, consider ensuring your travel arrangements are refundable should you need to adjust your travel plans. Here's a tip: avoid booking your flight through a third-party service, and book directly with airlines instead. Many third-party agencies will not provide refunds on booked flight.
